About

The Chinatown Blog began in March 2007 and was started by a group of young people trying to explain to their elders what a blog is and why anyone would read a blog. The idea for the blog originated initially about how to disseminate information to residents and the community about Chinatown land development and planning issues.

Starting a blog was a seen as a cost effective and simple way to share that information as opposed to the traditional newsletter, which required collecting names/addresses, paying for the cost of printing and mailing. Over time, the blog evolved to cover other news not related to land developments and different contributors have written for the blog.

To contribute to the Chinatown Blog, there are only 2 criterias that must be followed:

1) Postings must relate to Chinatown (geographic) or Asian Americans (population) in Massachusetts.

2) No offensive material, unsubstantiated rumors, or news that may cause harm to other individuals/businesses/institutions will be tolerated.
