To Our Veterans

We dedicate today to the individuals who sacrificed so much to maintain our freedom. Even though there currently has been a lot of controversy about our current military operations, I’m extremely thankful that there are individuals who volunteer to make the freedom of America a priority in their life.
During the month of March, many Chinese families take time to honor their fallen family members who served in the military. I find it ironic that the Chinese designate a day to honor their military family members, but I don’t see that these same individuals showing any awareness of the current military operations of America. Do they just not care? This lack of awareness can’t be blamed on a language barrier. So what is the reasoning behind this? I’ve spoken to a few individuals about this and the common excuses include “it doesn’t affect me” and “it isn’t important to me”. Sadly, the lack of care by Chinese Americans translates into less registered voters and potentially future generations carrying the same care level.
We can change this lack of care. Take a moment and speak to those who don’t care about our military and encourage them to speak of it. With any hope, those words will turn into action.
