From the Wikipedia:[1] Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival ([2] simplified Chinese: 中秋节; [3] traditional Chinese: 中秋節; [4] pinyin: zhōngqiūjié), also known as the Moon Festival, is a popular [5] East Asian celebration of abundance and togetherness, dating back over 3,000 years to [6] China’s [7] Zhou Dynasty. In [8] Malaysia and [9] Singapore, it is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or “Mooncake Festival.”
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th [10] lunar month of the [11] Chinese calendar (usually around mid- or late-[12] September in the [13] Gregorian calendar), a date that parallels the [14] Autumn [15] Equinox of the [16] solar calendar. This is the ideal time, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest, to celebrate the abundance of the summer’s harvest. The traditional food of this festival is the [17] mooncake, of which there are many different varieties.
