Congratulations to City Councilor Sam Yoon
November 7, 2007 by Chinatown Blogger.

Picture taken from Sam Yoon’s website samyoon.com
Congratulations to incumbent City Councilor Sam Yoon for winning the city-wide at-large seat. Before being elected as Boston City Councilor, Yoon labored many years in Chinatown crunching financing numbers at the Asian Community Development Corporation, a non-profit outfit that built low-income and affordable housing. The AsianCDC was noted for building the Oak Terrace apartments on 888 Washington Street and the Metropolitan at 38 Oak Street.
Also, congratulations to Lisa Wong, who won the mayoral race in Fitchburg, MA. If anyone has a picture of Lisa Wong, send it over so we all know what she looks like. The Chinatown Blogger believes this is Lisa Wong, the 2nd person from the right.

Vamoose to NYC
November 5, 2007 by willng24.

As of November 8th the discount bus services between New York City and Boston will have more competition from Vamoose, a bus service that has been operating between New York City and Virginia/Maryland. For around $25 each way a passenger will have a reserved seat on one of these buses…but there is more. Free WiFi!! Yes, you will be able to entertain yourself for the entire trip with constant internet connection, at no additional cost (well not totally free, it is included in the price). So you folks who have taken the Chinatown bus to NYC, try Vamoose and drop me a review of their services.

A Park in Chinatown? Part 1
November 3, 2007 by Chinatown Blogger.

The Chinatown Blogger poses for a pass. Guess which one is the real Chinatown Blogger, Number 18 or 12?
Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox for winning the World Series. I’m sure many kids were watching as Papelbon threw the final strike for the third out. The Chinatown Blogger remembers when he was a kid, he was really pumped up on Morgan Magic, Jody Reed, and the Gator Greenwell. Each day after school, the future Chinatown Blogger grabbed a baseball mitt and ran out to the field to swat like he was the modern day Chinese Jim Rice (and it was not flies, that’s Ralph Macchio).
The Chinatown Blogger would also like to state here that the Patriots (8-0) will blow away the Indy Colts this Sunday 41-24. Why? Last year, with a much inferior wide-receiving corps, the Colts barely eked out a win (38-34) in the AFC Championship game against the greatest team of the 21st century. This year, the Patriots are loaded on offense and signed Adalius “Monster” Thomas and have HGH Harrison back.
So what does this have to do with Chinatown, you ask? The problem is, there is no park in Chinatown to play baseball, football (and soccer)! Without a park, how can there be the Flutie Pass? Can you imagine Doug standing ontop the State Street building and heaving the Hail Mary flying over the 93 Expressway and landing into Phelan’s car windshield?
That’s the problem Chinatown has. The new Chinatown Park near the gate is nice, but it is more concrete than grass. A nice “signature park” to sit and eat lunch, not a place to play fantasy Brady-to-Moss park. However, there may one day be such a parl fpr Chinatown for kids to relive the 2007 Red Sox. There is a group of community residents and planners who are studying where to build. One area they have looked at is the s0-called Chinatown Gateway area, or aka South Bay Special Study area.
To be continued…
