Illegal To Spank Your Children?
December 2, 2007 by willng24.

Wow, I’m surprised that all of Chinatown isn’t up in arms about this. Disciplining your children has been part of every culture for as long as I can remember. Sadly society (most likely the part that doesn’t have children) is pushing to make spanking illegal. The purpose of this bill is to prevent abuse and not to punish parents, but this just gives any teenager a reason to file abuse charges against their parents. I’d understand that these are just the first steps to passing a bill and that adjustments and revisions will be made to make the bill more acceptable. So why all the fuss? Well I’ve seen way too many cases where parents are disciplining their children without spanking and it never works out. Go out into mall, restaurant or toy story and you will surely see a parent sternly talking to their child. Is the child listening? Is it effective….most likely not.
Kids are just like adults, they’ll push the limits and see what they can get away with. If the results of any misbehavior is just a yelling or lost of privileges…well they’ll just keep on misbehaving. My feelings of spaking your kids are like basketball: No Harm = No Foul. Most of us were disciplined as children and surely thought twice before misbehaving the next time.
I do believe that there needs to be a better way to discipline children, but bringing spanking to the extreme of banning probably won’t work, but only time will tell.
