A Quick thank you to all the visitors of this Blog
Just want to mention that the Chinatown Blogger always encourages people to comment or send email about the blog. The blog is plugging away for about a year now. Currently, The Chinatown Blog is at the top when the words “Chinatown+blog” are searched through Google. If the words “Boston+Chinatown” was searched, this blog is the #10 result.
FYI, this site has no traffic monitoring software, ads, or other gimmicks to boost our ranking in Google. From the beginning, the Chinatown Blogger’s intentions were to write quality posts with an insider’s perspective on Chinatown issues. Better quality posts would attract more readers to the site. Quite a few people read the site, despite the Blogger’s sarcasm that a total of 3 readers come to this blog. The Blogger knows this because people have called, emailed, or approached the Blogger on the street (not making it up) about The Chinatown Blog and asking who the Chinatown Blogger is.
Originally, the blog focused specifically on land development and planning issues, but over time, the blog has evolved to include other topics such as art, history, travel, food, and interviews. There will be more posts coming, including interviews that the Blogger had conducted but are not transcribed yet, and hopefully the site will continue to attract more readers. Also, the site design and color scheme were changed. If you prefer the old design, please post in the comments. If you have any other comment or email about the site, suggestions for topics to write, please send them over. The Chinatown Blogger reads all the comments and emails.
An email the Blogger recently received:
“Seeing your blog post about the Chinese men buried at Mt Hope cemetery, I was reminded of the article I’ve attached. It comes from the Boston Globe in 1885, and describes Chinese men flying kites at the new (at the time) Franklin Park. I found it when investigating the history of Franklin Park for my Jamaica Plain history blog, but I don’t think I ever used it.” Mark Bulger,
